Leadership
At Highland we like to think of ourselves as "Leaders of the Pack". We work to develop the leadership capacity of all of our students. We are very proud of our leadership team and all of the work they do on behalf of our school and community. The leadership team regularly coordinates activities for students and staff that make life here at Highland a little more fun and exciting. Leadership students take an active role to improve our school and go the extra mile with their work on community service projects.

Technology
Technology integration is a hot topic at Highland and district-wide. We are working hard to increase our technology footprint at Highland as a means of enhancing instruction and student engagement. We currently have a SmartBoard in each academic classroom, a set of E-Readers in the Media Center, two computer labs, and wireless access throughout the building to support the district's Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) to school initiative. We are currently raising funds for future purchases such as additional tablets.

Serving Others
We feel it is important to instill in our students a sense of gratitude and appreciation for one another, for our parents, and community. As a result, we work hard to give students many opportunities to provide service to others. The last Friday of each month is Community Friday which we collect items such as canned goods, clothing, and toiletries for people in need. We are well on our way to having collected over 2,000 items for the school year. We have also worked hard to raise nearly $10,000 for the American Heart Association through the Jump Rope for Heart program and recently donated $700 to The Wounded Warriors Project which supports disabled military veterans. These are just a couple of examples of how we live to serve here at Highland Elementary.
